Spray tan FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything people usually ask before their first (or fiftieth) spray tan.

How long does a spray tan last?

Most spray tans last around 5 to 10 days. How long yours lasts depends on your skin, how well you prep, and your aftercare. Exfoliating beforehand and moisturizing daily afterward make the biggest difference.

What's the difference between the Cocoa Rapid and the Cocoa Classic?

The difference is how long the solution stays on before you rinse. With the Cocoa Rapid you rinse after 1–4 hours, depending on how deep you want your color. With the Cocoa Classic you let it develop for about 8–12 hours. Both keep developing after the rinse and reach their final color by around 24 hours.

When should I shower after my spray tan?

It depends on your tan. Cocoa Rapid: rinse after 1–4 hours. Cocoa Classic: rinse after about 8–12 hours. For your first rinse, use lukewarm water only, no soap, and pat dry gently.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear whatever you are comfortable tanning in. Many people choose undergarments, a swimsuit, or nothing at all. Afterward, change into loose, dark clothing and loose shoes, and skip anything tight like leggings or a sports bra until you rinse.

How should I prepare for a spray tan?

Shave or wax and exfoliate at least 24 hours before. On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, dry skin and no lotion, deodorant, perfume or makeup. Before your first appointment, you will get a text message with the full prep instructions.

How far before an event should I book?

Booking one to two days before your event works well for most people. That gives your color time to fully develop and gives you a couple of showers to soften it into its most natural look.

Will I look orange?

Your tan is customized to your skin tone and the look you want. Following the prep and aftercare steps helps your color develop evenly and look like your own skin, just more golden.

Can I work out or sweat after my tan?

Avoid sweating and water until after your first rinse. Sweat can cause streaks or spots while the tan is developing.

Is the bronzer color my final color?

No. The color you see right after your appointment is a cosmetic bronzer that helps with even application. It rinses away in your first shower. Your real color continues developing underneath and is fully developed by around 24 hours.

What's your cancellation policy?

No deposit is needed to book. You can cancel up to 4 hours before your appointment at no charge. Cancellations within 4 hours are charged half the service price, and no-shows are charged the full price. Arriving more than 15 minutes late counts as a no-show.
